Biography
因材施教,教導學生學習欣賞音樂、樂器演奏技巧和培養音樂感。 Vera Lai started to learn flute at 13. She attained Associate Diploma in Recital in Flute from the Trinity College of London. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Education Degree (Contemporary Music and Performance Pedagogy) Programme at The Education University of Hong Kong. During the university years, she studied flute with Hong Kong Philharmonic’s Co-principal Flute Olivier Nowak. Vera had experienced of playing flute and piccolo in wind bands and orchestras for 7 years. She was the president of EdUHK Orchestra Committee and Principal of Flute in EdUHK Orchestra. And she participated flute Masterclass with masters Megan Sterling, Juliette Hurel. Also, She participated the Master classes with international music students and masters for flute and piano in Diekrich, Luxembourg. Vera got the silver prize in the HK/Japan international flute competition and the 1st runner-up in the SCHK concerto competition. In 2017, she won the Champion of EdUHK Muses Chamber Award. In 2018, she won the Champion of Hong Kong Region in The 19th OSAKA International Music Competition. In recent years, she is focusing on teaching flute, from beginnings to advanced level. She provided private lesson and flute class in primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Moreover, she also performed jazz music after graduated.
